What is a "real" man or a "real" woman?

I believe the answers would vary from person to person.

I don't believe either is to be thought of as a superhero or a servant with no will of their own.
The first is too much pressure for an ordinary human, and the second only breaks a person down or causes them to leave the relationship.

I do believe, in my own opinion, a real man does at times act heroically, defending his family against danger, working a job he is not fond of to help the family, and defending his partner against his own family's unkind talk about her.

And women can take care of a home and family, and do things for their partners without being doormats.
A real woman supports her partner just like he supports her; she may act heroically, too, to help the family out.
She doesn't gossip or continually complain about her partner but builds him up.

To me, real people stay loyal, tell the truth as kindly as possible, and don't cheat or hurt their partners on purpose, because they might be tempted.

A real man doesn't act like a little boy getting out of chores by throwing a fit whenever he is asked, or let others protect and do for his family when he could do so himself.
A real woman doesn't deny a man everything to get revenge or to make him miserable just because she can; that is a little girl.

Grownups try to do the best thing for themselves and for others.
Only children disregard all things unpleasant because they don't want to, and only what they want matters, no matter whom they hurt.
Anyway, that is my definition.

Perhaps real man or a real woman is simply someone who remains human in a world that constantly asks them to perform.

Not a hero...certainly not a servant.

Just a person strong enough to love without ownership, stand without cruelty, and bend without breaking themselves to earn acceptance from strangers maybe.
