Bad attitude.. equals nap

So, as you know..My fiancee and I have a slight domestic discipline type of relationship. Well, today, my Fiancee, Jenny got in big trouble. I get it, sometimes you are just tired and I understand that she is probably very tired with her busy schedule... However, that is no excuse for being down right hateful and rude. For now the punishment is just a nap in the hopes she will have a better attitude when she gets up. I'm trying to be lenient and give her the benefit of the doubt. She has been very cranky lately and lashing out at her son and myself is not the way she needs to be acting. I was going to spank her but I really believe she is just overly tired, hence why I sent her to bed.
So, what I am asking here is... Am I right to not actually punish her or should she be punished for being so hateful and rude??
