Is it ok not to kiss on the first date?

It took a few weeks of dating before my girlf and I plucked up the courage to kiss each other. Everyone else seems to rush into it.

I'm sure it's still okay, just like it was 50 years ago when it took several dates before my girlfriend forced me to kiss her. She wrote in her diary that it was awful, but she accepted the challenge and taught me to kiss the way she liked it.
