Why does it hurt so much? And why can't I stop thinking about?

So I have been texting this lady I met on a dating app. I came to know that we went to a same programme and studied in same college. It felt good talking to her and we met for a coffee. I like her and she also said that she want to continue meeting. But then she is now unresponsive. Haven't blocked me but no initiative at all and one word response.

This shouldn't affect me but I feel hut and kinda depressed. It feels dark and lonesome.

What should I do? How do I get over this feeling of being left?

That’s a risk you take in dating and I can tell you it happens quite often. I had a great date with one guy - coffee for three hours , and I thought we really hit if off. He said he wanted to see me again and then…. Crickets. I’d text him and either no answer, or Hes very busy or not engaged, or one word answers. That was prob a decade ago, and to this day I still wonder wtf happened. Like, what did I do? What changed?

@DoubleRings This is exactly what I am going through. And it took a lot in me to go out there. And then this happens. I am questioning myself.

@bill117 we don’t always know whats on peoples minds. What makes their minds up or what changes them one way or another. I’ve just come to accept that my reality (I liked him very much) does not imply his reality (he prob was not being genuine when he said he wanted to see me again, he prob didn’t like me as much as I thought). It also crossed my mind perhaps he could have emotional trauma, fear of commitment or intimacy, mental health issues, perhaps just playing games or maybe he’s gay, idk! We can never know.

And for the record. I laid it out for him eventually about a month later and told him in a gentle way that I was confused but that I enjoyed my time with him and would like to see him again if he was still up to it (since HE asked!) bc I thought we had a lot of things in common. And still…… no answer. So after that I gave up. Deleted his contact info.
