Accept the request, be friendly and get to know her. You already know you both like fitness and gyms, so there's an icebreaker. As you talk you'll get to know more about mutual tastes in music, food, etc. and if that all goes well, perhaps things my become romantic but don't get ahead of yourself. Just be a friend first.

I don't mean that you're objectifying her or something like that, rather dudes think women are like this other species.
They aren't.

Sure she's attractive and so on, but she's just a regular person. So just talk to her like a regular person.

Why so reserved? Just accept her friend request, and tell her you're looking forward to seeing her soon.

I always go with the blunt option just tell her that you like her a lot romantically for a long time but she was always with someone else and you are respectful?

She is probably no longer a girl so look at her and treat her like a woman/lady.
