When a relationship ends ...

Based on the presupposition that the relationship ended because of me i.e they broke up with me and not the other way around.

I'd say that that while I came to grips with the cold hard truth, the reason they left me.. I would miss how that person made me feel about myself, i'd miss the peace we'd shared, the peace is like the sound of silence, a rest note in the bar of musical notation, between the noise of the world out there, the sound of my loneliness in that world.

And even after the truth is revealed and accepted begrudgingly, and not having found another partner, on certain days where i felt especially lonely, I would daydream of the what today could have been like with the ex, had we still been together, but it's just a day dream.

There's a lot of truth to that. I think you can miss the person too but there's a part of the process where it's the feeling you're missing.

I miss that person, because those feelings came about due to who/what they are and their behavior and interaction with me. They are connected not separate.

I think for the most part its the way they made me feel. There was one thati missed both her and the way she made me feel.

I miss how he made me feel
I miss the love I was able to give

It's the way they made me feel. And that makes sense, because all our perceptions are in our head.
