Anyone ever proposed to get married with genuine intent and been rejected ?

If you made the ultimate commitment to someone, did the whole romantic proposal thing, and got rejected, that would have to feel ultra-humiliating and feel terrible.

I've never been married so never proposed to anyone, therefore I do not have any idea what it's like to be that deeply in love to want to (maybe) get married.

Got that far, once in my twenties. It was the only time I asked.

She wanted things that I just couldn't offer. She recognized it first.

She married someone else shortly afterwards.

I don't blame her. Two different expectations.

I didn't propose per say... but I seriously and genuinely threw the idea out there, testing the waters and... uh, yeah, not what I was expecting and was heart broken...

That's when I realized that relationship wasn't going anywhere. I
