Why men and women can't talk

Recently I read a book about the major differences between women and men want.
How they are thinking differently and how they differ in communication.

When women have issues they talk about with men, they want men to listen and give support. When men hear about problems they want to fix it.
Men come up with solutions, and women want to be heard and supported. So they end up in the following:
Women say men never listen and don't support them, men say women have new problems for every solution.
So I've been thinking about this.

When my wife yesterday said that the kitchen sink is clogged I asked her:
- How does this make you feel?

I generally don't need a "How to fix this issue" when talking to someone. I'm smart enough to know how to fix an issue and even smarter to know that my emotions and the truth are not mirrors of one another. I will complain, for complainings sake. That's just how it is and I'm healthier for it.
