So, I think I want a child in the future but now I'm diabetic and the women in my family have history of horrible pregnancy complications. My mom almost died giving birth to my youngest sister and horrible life threatening pregnancy complications run in my family. If you and your girlfriend were ready to have a child, would you still do it knowing these risks or would you just adopt?

Probably not if it were up to me and me alone. But I dont think I would want it to be my decision alone nor would I want to raise a child with out his/her mother there to help me.

It's hard to put oneself into someone else's shoes but just saying that I have less significant health issues and still probably wouldn't risk pregnancy.
