It meant he was never going to bother me again - for me, relief and peace.
I've never broken up with someone unless I was absolutely serious about it.
The end means the end, and that's it.
If I'm in a relationship, I work to make it the best it can be.
If I discover that's not possible due to some sort of intractable trait, I let it go before anything develops.
I've been with my husband for 40 years now. There've been a few very difficult times, but we've survived and are best friends.
