I have bipolar, and although it's much more under control now, I will not date. My feeling is that it's dangerous for me... there's so much prejudice in this area against people with mental illness. I figure the only people who'd be attracted to me would be gaslighting criminals.

Isn't that spectrum as well? It can range from mild symptoms to hardcore episodes of insanity. And seems like it's treatable. I definitely wouldn't date anyone with moderate to severe symptoms though.

Nope. From my experiences with dealing with people with that disorder, my own mental illness clash with their symptoms and they tend to make me very upset. Pass.

Been there, done that. Not for long term. A casual date for occasional company would be ok, I guess. Hard to find any woman who isn't at least partially nuts.

I would. I’ve known a few great bipolar people. You just have to help them through sometimes. Show them they can trust you.

Already have. Never again. I don't think I was prepared for it or understood it. And it made things worse because he wasn't on medication.

[riyon] was the day her mother died. I was there, but I wasnt when she was cremated. It was during Covid. I take care of my mother who is 87 and a former RN, she thought Id melt

Sure, I don't judge people for having a mental illness. As long as they're under treatment I see no issue. My brother is bipolar, I have OCD.

Never again. My husband has it but it didn’t show up until we had been together for 9 years.

I would never ever marry someone with a mental health issue like that. So many ups and downs.

@iamonfire696 I was dating someone who didn't tell me until two months into the relationship. Probably fear that maybe I wouldn't date them. At that point it was too late because I was already too deep into my feels to get out.
Wouldn't wish it on anyone. I think some people are better suited for dealing with partners like that.

Nah. Not trying to be mean. I just couldn't handle that. I used to live with a friend who had it and it was too stressful. A man needs a little peace in his own home.
