Why did he say that to me?

I found out the guy I was seeing is married. I loved him so much and I was devastated that he was lying to me the whole time. I confronted him as soon as I found out. When we met to talk, he couldn’t even look me in the eyes and I saw the tears in his eyes. I have been really struggling these past few months. When I told him on text how much he hurt me and how much I have cried, I asked him are you hurting by how much you have hurt me and he said do you think I am made of steel? I told him I have cried so much and I asked him have you cried? He wouldn’t answer me that question and just said I’m not answering that question. Why did he say that to me?
