I don't think you should be sad. I could understand disappointment though. With what was said here already, it sounds like he did you a favor....imho.
I don't think it's necessarily bad that you're "too bold" either. Two people regardless of how long they've known each other should be able to negotiate how to conversation one way or another even if one does not want to answer completely at least they can be honest and say I'm not ready to answer that. I hope you shirk this off and move forward in a positive frame of mind. 🙂🙏🏻👍🏻
