How do I ask a guy out

There’s a guy who asked me out about a year ago but I was going through a tough time and was not ready for a new relationship. At this point in my life I’m doing much better and I’d like to go on a date with him. Not sure if he’s still interested or what the situation is but how do I go about asking him?

Say to him: “Do you remember that you asked me out about a year ago?”
If he says “no”, then just shrug and move on. If he says “yes” then ask him if the offer is still open. If it were me, then I’d be dead chuffed that you were asking me about it a year after the event.
Either way, you’ll get an answer. Don’t be scared, just go for it.
