A question for parents (especially with adult children)

How would you feel, if your adult child was hooking up with your best friend?

(PS: Your best friend is about your age in this hypothetical scenario)

How would you feel if it was your daughter? How would you feel if it was your son?

This question was inspired by an adult GF learning that her adult BF has been hooking up with his Mom's long time best friend... and GF breaking up with him about it. But I'm just wondering how his Mom felt about it... her son and best friend hooking up (as adults).

I'd be concerned about my best friend suddenly changing character. I'd be wondering if there was some neurological problem causing such a major change in behaviour.

I would also want to be reassured that neither party was either exerting undue influence over the other nor assuming things about the other that were unlikely to be true.
