Is it racist if I prefer to stick with my own race?

I mean I don’t have a problem with interracial relationships/marriages and I support them, but I prefer my own race. I’m a white woman that prefers to date white men. I feel more comfortable. Plus I want my future kids to look like me.
Just being honest.

I don't think it's racist. My mother felt like you. I'm black and my mother wouldn't allow us to date anyone outside of our race. I did in secret though my dad knew but my mom didn't and I didn't dare go against her. I ended that relationship and ended up marrying someone in my own race.

@Homeatlast Are you angry with her views? Do you feel forced to not explore all options?
I feel the same way as your mom but I wouldn't disown my kid or ignore them if the feel for anyone but thats my internal feeling also. I feel its important.

@Homeatlast so you cared what your mom thought

@REMsleep I wasn't angry with her views because it was passed down from her parents. I was sad that I couldn't date who I wanted to date while she was alive but I respected her. I will never tell my children who they could date though.

@Homeatlast Ok so do you find any vslue in openly encouraging your children to date the same race? Im not saying to forbid them but is this a non consideration for you?

@REMsleep I will let my kids date whomever they want. I won't tell them to date within our race. But I highly respected my mom and wanted to make her happy.
