Christmas gift giving

My boyfriend decided that he doesn't want any gifts from me this year, and any money I would have spent on him I should use to get myself something, so he won't have to get me a gift.

Is that being practical or is he being a prick?

I find it hurtful, am I being overly sensitive?

If you're upset by it, that's a huge "tell." This doesn't bode well for a ltr. He should be into the idea of exchanging gifts with you.
