Christmas gift giving

My boyfriend decided that he doesn't want any gifts from me this year, and any money I would have spent on him I should use to get myself something, so he won't have to get me a gift.

Is that being practical or is he being a prick?

I find it hurtful, am I being overly sensitive?

probably intended at the first, but likely implemented as the second. it takes more time, creativity and it's not always the best results, but you can pretty much come up with something to give/get/make for someone.
