What do you do to get over strong feelings you may have for someone?

CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
At this point...I wish I had them. No excess is good but I've felt numb for way too long.
iMystery · M
@CrazyMusicLover I can relate actually
SW-User
I remind myself of the facts about that person: incompatibility, bad things they've brought into my life, the many ways in which I'm truly happier without them.
iMystery · M
@SW-User That definitely is great advice
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
Get strong feelings for someone new!
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
@iMystery Oh, I do not deny falling for a new woman often ends up in pain.

I have never had a girlfriend, and every woman I have fallen for did not fall for me, too!
iMystery · M
@JoyfulSilence Unreciprocated feelings are the worst.
SW-User
@JoyfulSilence Same. No man ever loved me in return.
It can be done but the hurts that come from those from the past can stay and can affect having feelings for anyone else.
iMystery · M
@Thedoorislocked Agreed! They say time heals all wounds, but I added a bit of my own to that which is: But some wounds leave deeper scars than others.

So even though the wound is healed the scars left behind messes things up for the next person who may come along.

For of all sad words of tongue or pen,

@iMystery My first break up was devastating..now I give myself six weeks to get OVER MYSELF
iMystery · M
@bookerdana Six weeks is a long time. I prefer to just shut down. Much quicker and I can focus more efficiently that way.

The only drawback is that takes me to a dark place... a place that I always find comfort in, but then I'm just a cold bastard.
bookerdana · M
@iMystery Shutting down can do that..I give a week for grieving ,4 weeks on all the things I may have let slip,bills reading movies then back on the road again
closed4service · 22-25, F
Burry them deep inside, and spend the next three days maintaining being shit face drunk.
closed4service · 22-25, F
@OldBrit Quitter!
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@closed4service and proud of it
iMystery · M
@closed4service 🤣 Tried that once... All I got was a 3 day hangover 🤣
marsbar · F
Distract myself by focusing on other things, being productive & talk to other guys.
iMystery · M
@marsbar Good suggestion
Allelse · 36-40, M
I get to know them, once I do that I usually lose all interest.
SW-User
iMystery · M
@SW-User Lol not always the best idea, because you might wake up still having those feelings plus a bonus hangover 🤣
SW-User
@iMystery in that case working on yourself is the only way to try and get over it.
iMystery · M
@SW-User Agreed
Angiebird · 26-30, F
God knows. Wait it out I guess
iMystery · M
@Angiebird Time heals all wounds I guess
Why do yall hate feeling lol
iMystery · M
@DarlingSelah Lol I wouldn't say I hate feeling... its jut the consequences thereof when those feelings are not reciprocated, especially when you were given the impression that they actually were mutual.
Ask their dad out
iMystery · M
@Greyscale 🤣 Speaking of experience?
ChampagneOnIce · 51-55, F
No idea. Good luck, though.
SW-User
Ride it out
iMystery · M
@SW-User Yeah... only time will tell
MaliaAgain · 36-40, F
You marry them
iMystery · M
@MaliaAgain 🤣 these marriage is what makes people fall out of love lol
I get angry.

I know it's not healthy.

But no damn way, I'm gonna be a sap over someone who hurt me.
Human1000 · M
It doesn’t, but recognize feelings aren’t reality, just chemicals.
iMystery · M
@Human1000 Scientifically speaking, yes, but knowing that still doesn't make one feel any differently.
Human1000 · M
@iMystery Give it time.
