So what books did everyone get for Christmas?

I got quite a pile, include “Vera, or Faith” by Gary Shteyngart, and “Clown Town” by Mick Herron. The latter is the latest Slow Horses novel. The former is a short novel by a weird and fascinating writer. Funny and serious at the same time. Told from the perspective of a 10yo girl. It’s a dystopian view of life in the US in the very near future. But also makes fun of people on both sides. It works because the main character is so interesting and sympathetic. Highly recommended.

@Penny I don’t think I’ve read any Amy Tan. If I did it was a long time ago. Possibly The Joy Luck Club. I’d have to look back it to remember…. Which of hers is your favorite?
