This is a true story from just before the 2nd WW. A very peculiar German couple moves to an uninhabited tropical island to start their own little paradise. Their story attracts some other people who move to the island as well. Eventually there are 8 people who try to survive and to get along. Strange things happen, people disappear and get killed. It didn't turn out to be the paradise they hoped for. The author was able to reconstruct the events based on various diaries.
