I was looking at it a bit last night. There is an order in which they were written with the first being back in the early 80s it seems, but there are also series within the series? It looked like one could spend years in Discworld. lol

Had to check - the first is the Colour of Magic. The Light Fantastic is a sequel to that and apparently the rest are reasonably self contained. 41 books in all.

@JustNik The book generator suggested Equal Rites for me

The important thing is just to read them. You can always read them again in a different order. I would just suggest that you read the Light Fantastic and the Colour of Magic first because if to read them last I think they will feel less impressive.

But reading them in order of writing or publication has one specific benefit and that is that you follow pTerry on his journey as a developing writer. There is no doubt that later books such as The Night Watch and The Hogfather are more substantial works both of art and social commentary than the first two.
Best way to read them is in the order they were published. You can read them out of order because, excepting the first 2 books, there's no continuation of stories between books. But characters and places continue through the series and you'll be able to appreciate them more.
He's a favorite writer. Very few writers can be seriously philosophical and make you laugh out loud at the same time.
Ofc i have ;) great writer

You guys have me convinced that I should start with The Color of Magic.

I'll hopefully have 1984 finished by the year end and Terry will by my first book of 2024.

The YouTube audio book versions would seem to have them in some sort of order 🤷‍♂️
