@bookerdana It's always בַּת for a woman. The ת can be pronounced as a "t" or an "s" same word, same meaning, different pronunciation.. You got the same situation with Shabbos and Shabbat, same word, both spelled with a ת , different pronunciations. And house ( בית ) can be pronounced as either "beit" or "beis" because, same reason. I think you are confusing it with "bar" which is . באר and actually not Hebrew but Aramaic for "son"

@robb65 No the reason is I know 10 women who were "bat Mitvahed..but maybe they or their rabbis got it wrong🤷‍♀️

@bookerdana No he didn't get it wrong but most likely he was Reform and it would have been equally correct to say "Bas".. Once upon a time I had a conversation with someone who was Jewish and they immediately assumed I was Conservative because I said Shabbos and because I was online on the Sabbath. In fairness I'm not even Jewish but spent some time around both a Conservative synagogue as well as a Chabad house. I suppose if I had slipped in a "Gut Shabbes" it would have confused the heck out of them.
