I Like to Read

Do you feel the internet is helping or hurting the children of today how to read? Do you remember going to the library on a Saturday morning and getting lost in the adventures of books on all those shelves? Do you miss the smell of a library?

Most children, and adolescents too, are unable to properly get the meaning of a simple text... at least in my country, and it has been an issue for teachers to get them involved in the process of opening a book...they seem to believe their only way to keep alive is having a cel in their hands.

Sad, a real pity the way they let pass the chance of getting to know what the world has, what life is about, how they can improve themselves and obtain the tools to be able to keep body and soul together once they have to live by themselves...

Big sigh...
I don't miss it because I frequent the library often. Bookstores too. The smell is even better if its a used bookstore...
My children have grown up immersed in a world of books. The internet hasn't really had much effect on that.

RedDawn76- I am happy to hear that you are still exposing your children to real books. I go on the weekends to a few flea markets in my area and a there are a few stalls of old books. I love that smell as well.

LadyHearnMind - I couldn't agree with you more.
