Overused Words I hate Part 2

Gaslighting.
Getting sick of this one; apparently we are all gaslighting each other these days.

It's not even a good metaphor since it really means nothing to anyone anymore. Other metaphors like "up the creek without a paddle" gives some kind of idea what it means.

The same goes for the media-created wrong meaning for "oxymoron." These Jurinalism majors are so stupid that they have shallowly associated it with something said by a moron. Its real meaning is just the opposite: a clever pun in which the words would be contradictory if used in a completely different context, such as "boneless ribs, less (clutter) is more (clarity), paid volunteers, donut holes, etc."

Those who got into media from their college hideouts never listened to the previous generation's media before they became professionals, or else they would have frequently heard "a (claim that something is) contradiction in terms." Oxymoron is a rare literary figure of speech. Irradiated soil could be called "clean dirt," which would be the informed use of "oxymoron."
