I Like to Use Words & Phrases That Haven’t Been Common For Decades, This Amuses The Boy, Who Is 15 Years Old…

When he is a bit clumsy I call him “Twinkletoes”, he laughs over that one.

I LOVE the richness of our COMPLETE language. I adore some of the old phrases and words that my grandparents used to use...which were funny or silly.

@cherokeepatti "Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it", certainly was NOT pot...🤣🤣🤣 "Bees in her bonnet", did NOT signify beekeeping...🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou One time when I was young and working at a Congregate Meal site (meals for the elderly) one of the Outreach workers came into the kitchen and saw the other cook’s aid moving around quickly doing things in the kitchen. She told her “You’re as busy as a blowfly”. She didn’t say that to me but I kind of got offended by that. Should have said busy as a bee, blowflies eat shit.

@cherokeepatti Busy as a bee, for sure. I remember that song, "Shoo fly, don't bother me, shoo fly, don't bother me, I don't need your company!" (My mother used to sing it).
