[c=BF6900]has anyone ever read this book? or knows more about it? it sounds pretty facinating to me.[/c]

I have read the trilogy, and then the sequel "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish." I believe there is one more, which I have not read.

Many people think it is fantastic. I thought it was OK, but I was disappointed. There really isn't much of a story, just a bunch of anecdotes. Apparently the publishers were pulling their hairs out because Adams was procrastinating, and then he polished them off very quickly just before the deadlines.

The books do have their moments though, and I think it is worthwhile to read at least one.

When I first read it I didn't think much of it either.
If you can stick with it do so because it is worth it.

And when you finish that, read up on the Terry Pratchett Discworld stuff.
That's fantasy with subversion of real life people and headline makers in the age the stories were written.

Might take you a while to get all the references but they are clever

Yes, great book.

Yes.. and it is..You just need to be able do suspend disbelief and "go with it" If you find it heavy going, maybe the TV series will be easier to deal with. (Better than the movie in my view)😷

I tried to, but I just couldn't because it was SO boring! It's supposed to be funny, but it was about as funny as cancer.
Yes - I love them. (the books and original radio series/TV series that is). The films not so much though.

Listened to the radio play, read all five books of the trilogy, bought the records, watched the BBC television series, even watched the more recent film (don't bother, I've seen it, it's rubbish).

It's brilliant, uneven, hilarious, thought provoking, very, very English, inconsistent and a great monument to procrastination.
