I Absolutely Love Bookstores

I'm incredibly lucky to live close to Powell's City of Books (possibly the largest book store in the world). I remember when I was little one of my girl friends and I would go down about once a month and we would sell all our old books and buy "new" ones. You can spend all day in there and still not see everything they have. It's a book lover's dream come true. What has really been fun is taking my kids and watching them get just as excited. I don't know if I'll ever convert to digital reading. To me nothing is quite as exceptional as a the feel of a book in my hands.

No, it's hard to compete, for sure. It's like the Made-in-USA argument. Of course I buy American when I can, and you want to support the American worker, but how do you compete with foreign labor costs. Though the two issues are different, it's the same dynamic.
