I Absolutely Love Bookstores

I'm incredibly lucky to live close to Powell's City of Books (possibly the largest book store in the world). I remember when I was little one of my girl friends and I would go down about once a month and we would sell all our old books and buy "new" ones. You can spend all day in there and still not see everything they have. It's a book lover's dream come true. What has really been fun is taking my kids and watching them get just as excited. I don't know if I'll ever convert to digital reading. To me nothing is quite as exceptional as a the feel of a book in my hands.

The internet has certainly been a blessing and a curse. Lots of small business owners shut down because they simply cannot compete. The overhead of renting space and utilities is far greater than the cost of shipping. I have yet to purchase a book online myself. But I understand why people do.
