Of those, Lolita. I would have never read it except it was required for a course I was taking. The first few chapters were torture, imho, but reading it was required so I plowed ahead and suddenly it took off and I couldn't put it down. To tell the truth, I have only read four on that list; my familiarity with the rest is through movies and/or critiques of them.

Of those? Mark Twain with "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". Clemens was brilliant with his humor and social commentary.

I prefer my books over those

My favorite among those is Huckleberry Finn, which was one of my first books when I was a kid. I wouldn't call it "great," but I still like it.

Gravity's Rainbow, by Thomas Pynchon (1973)
SleepingWithGhosts · 46-50, M
A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens or The Stand by Stephen King.

I have only read three out of ten. And that is only because my teacher assigned them! Hamlet is good. But there are good movies, too!
As for a favorite book, I liked The Lord of the Rings!

From those, I would pick Hamlet. Great plot and many classic events.
Anna Karenina is another great.
I prefer This Side of Paradise to The Great Gatsby.
I have a nagging feeling that I could be short-changing Huckleberry Finn.

In my life, for me personally, it wouldn't be any of those. What does "great" mean ?

@Rambler There is nothing insightful at age 6. What you saw in the picture was straight up depiction of reality. Overthinking comes later when you are screwed up as an adult. And that was what happened with Hoff. Tao of Pooh, my ass. It was the Tao of Hoff sold under the name of Pooh.
Out of those? None.
@sree251 You demanded to know what Im reading, I told you. You said it sounded feminist. I gave my opinion on your comment. Read the book.

@0uijasFingers I don't have to read the book. Katy is obviously a lightweight when it comes to art, and I mean art in a serious sense. Who cares if it was a woman who drew the Mona Lisa?

@sree251 The book only builds on the work of Linda Nochlin and her iconic 1971 essay 'Why Have There Been Great Women Artists'. My bet is that the publisher of Hessel's book wanted that title. There's even been a Germaine Geer response to the essay. PersonalIy, like Whitney Chadwick’s 'Women, Art, and Society'.
