Bought me some bookcases

And after a couple of days of sorting things out (because there was a lot of chaos) and shelving some of my favourite books. This is the result, but I should have bought one extra bookcase for some of the hardcovers (mainly Marvel) that are still tucked away somewhere else. For those people that enjoy books, have fun with the pictures!

that looks really good. books are special things.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna Yup, it's the result of years of hoarding.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 every book you read holds a part of you.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna I thought it would be the other way around? Like: Every book you read becomes a part of you.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 that is also true, but i think most readers know it. serious ones, anyway.

what i said is the reason it is so difficult to get rid of books. they own something that is you.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna That sounds way nicer then "I'm a hoarding materialist with a book fetish", yeah... I see how that would make a lot of people more happy about themselves.

It's a pitty that the SW site seems to loose some of the quality of the pictures that are taken to make it fit. But you as someone that is doing political sciences, you could have a field day with what I have on some of the shelves. It goes from left to right, from moderate to radical to extreme. I'm proud of my colection. Now I just have to read it all, because I've read a lot, but I've not read all of them.

Also, Since this week I'm looking into a ukrainian that is in the comic book world. I read one of his works, and I bought some of his more experimental stuff to see how that is.

@Kwek00 it is always good to have some books waiting to be read... a proper library should be full of future promise as well as memories.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna When you are a hoarder like me, there is a lot of future ahead of you. 😅
But at least I read... I do actually read. I also have friends that just have books but don't read which is strange.

I recently got my hands on a dutch hardcover translation of Marcel Proust. When I'm done with what I'm doing now (which still has a way to go) then I'm finally going to give that a try because a lot of people think it's great. It's just an investment of time.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 libraries are magical... read Jorge Luis Borges.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna well, language is magic... at least that's what the NLP gurus say. I think they have a certain point, depending on your definition of "magic" of course. Thx for the reference, but at the moment, I think Proust will do, it's going to be a long journey. and I still need to read Dostojevski, which is also something that has been on my shelf way too long without being read.

@Kwek00 just make time to read The Library of Babel

it is a short story.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna I just bought his omnibus in dutch. It better be good Yulianna, it better be good. 😳
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 it is, but how much of you will it take? and will you find a part of me that is there?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna If I find you in there, you better be looking good. 😳
Yulianna · 22-25, F
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna Did you just spoil the plot? 🙄
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 Borges and plot are not words that rush together in my mind...
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna I just know he's a heavy weight in literature... I never read anything of him.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 if you can read with your eyes closed and let your mind inhabit the world he creates... but that is not easy.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna Yeah, we are going to need a lot of drugs for that.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 🙄 i have never used drugs...
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna Except for alcohol I guess 🙄
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 yes, a little wine, i will admit... and medicinal drugs, of course.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna Well, I've conciously left out the medicine or the common stuff like sugar and caffeine which are all products that stimulate people in a certain way. But alcohol is something that people like to forget about, or place outside the realm of drugs... and it clearly should be in that category.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Kwek00 and coffee, which i consume in prodigious quantities!
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Yulianna Yes, I put it next to sugar for a reason. Caffeine and sugar are both drugs that users are unaware off. But they are present in a lot of peoples life, and the moment people ask you to be concious about them and cut down on them (for avoiding sugar disease, diets, ... or high blood pressure), people notice that they are kicking off pretty hard if they are heavy users.
