If you read non-fiction, what are your favorite subjects to read about?

I enjoy reading about history, especially American history and Medieval European history. I also enjoy reading about philosophy and intellectual history. I will occasionally read technical books on linguistics, but they aren't leisurely choices. :)

I like philosophy but have to admit I often struggle with it. "Thus Spoke Zarathustra", is one such book.

@curiosi Yes. Philosophical allegories are tough (I recently bought a new translation of Plato's [i]Symposium[/i]), as are the somewhat dry comprehensive philosophical outlines like "Critique of Pure Reason". Important reading, though!
