I like philosophy but have to admit I often struggle with it. "Thus Spoke Zarathustra", is one such book.

@curiosi Yes. Philosophical allegories are tough (I recently bought a new translation of Plato's Symposium), as are the somewhat dry comprehensive philosophical outlines like "Critique of Pure Reason". Important reading, though!

@SW-User That sounds interesting as I too had difficulties with it.

Mostly history. The last non-fiction book I read was Douglas Blackmon's Slavery by Another Name, about how Black slavery persisted from the end of the Civil War up to Pearl Harbor through the convict leasing system. I'm currently reading Vincent Bugliosi's Reclaiming History, the definitive study of the JFK assassination. The next one will be John M. Barry's The Great Influenza, about the Spanish Flu pandemic 100 years ago. Understandably, the library copy is pretty popular right now.
