Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami is a powerful journey into the loneliness of the human soul. Read Common Sense by Thomas Paine or The Prince by Machiavelli if you want something that is strictly doctrine.

Have you read the Republic by Plato? (I haven't)
I really like "How Not To Be Wrong", if you like mathematics or logic, you might like this book (maybe not).

Have you read Demian by Hermann Hesse? It's pretty weird at times and you my hate it lol But from what I remember, it was pretty interesting at the same time
