@nobodyishome Sorry for the late reply. Having trouble surviving the heath. A nightstand book is a book that one like to have in or on ones little table next to ones bed. It usually also had a standing light and the book was to be read when one was already in bed. It's a favourite read that's always there to be read in order to settle the mind ready for sleep. I wanted to compose a little list of people's favourites.
