I'm reading Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town by Stephen Leacock. He's a Canadian writer, go bought the book because I visited is home (museum) this summer. Obviously I haven't been reading much the last couple of months.
Just finished "The Temptress: The Scandalous Life of Alice de Janze and the Mysterious Death of Lord Erroll" by Paul Spicer, almost finished with "Starman's Son" by Andre Norton. Not sure what I'll start next.
Make Me Commissioner: I Know What Is Wrong With Baseball & How To Fix It, by Jane Leavy. Great under the hood look at how too much analytics has led to paralysis by analysis, and then yet more analytics to overcome the paralysis.
Let the game fix itself as it has done for 150+ years rather than layering on the crap that has turned other sports into EVENTS for the gambling industry, TV broadcasters, and those with short-attention spans.
@helenS try modern Japanese authors then, like Yoko Ogawa. The Diving Pool is a good place to start. Very warped and cruel minds. I once knew a Hafu like that, on the surface very pleasant, but underneath cruel and calculating.
