Finished reading the novel - Gargoyle

A novel that tells the story of a man who is severely burned in a car accident and is befriended by a lady who tells him she has known him for hundreds of years.
The man's burns play a large part in the novel and as such here are just a few medical terms regarding the treatment of severe burns sprinkled throughout the novel.

Escharotomy - an emergency surgical procedure involving incising through areas of burnt skin to release the tightness as the skin grows on the periphery

Jejunostomy Jejunal feeding is the method of feeding directly into the small bowel. The feeding tube is passed into the stomach, through the pylorus and into the small bowel.

Pulmonary Toilet Techniques used to clear mucus and secretions from the airways.

Penectomy A surgical procedure that removes part of or all of the penis
