Here is one.
A guy gets lost on his way to work and ends up in a sector of urban decay. His car gets a flat and he wanders into a ruined building and finds a shiny blue phone sitting in the rubble. The phone rings. On the phone is himself from 20 minutes in the future, warning him to get clear of the area before aliens abscond with his cerebellum.

He goes in because he doesn't have a tire iron or spare and there isn't anyone else around and he is bored of just sitting in his car. There is no cell service in this desolate region. His missing cerebellum calls on the blue phone because it has a special connection to time/space as yet undiscovered.
@DanielChristensen: Why does he randomly go into this ruined building ? and why only 20 mins he could of just phoned his landline and told him not to leave the house that morning?

lol I don't watch Dr Who so I am ignorant of the connection. I wanted to say red phone, but the Batphone is red. Is the Tardis blue? I picture it being a red phone booth.
