chonky books

Just started this, but omigosh - already a ride. My last really really good read was Hyperion by Dan Simmons, and before that Borne by Jeff VanderMeer (which is either about a giant floating murder bear, or a deep dive into the strangeness of marriage.

Any other folks with favorite reads to recommend? Anything horror, in particular.

Anything by Brian Lumley, particularly his NECROSCOPE/WAMPHYRI/E-BRANCH series of interconnected books.

@jademonkey19 I just love Brian's writing, and I believe these are his best works. A fascinating mix of sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and even espionage. Plus his vampires would simply rip the heads off the vampires of the teenage romance book series like Twilight, etc.

@ChipmunkErnie that sounds awesome - definitely going to check them out!

@jademonkey19 Start with NECROSCOPE -- everything else flows from there and it introduces Harry Keogh, the "Necroscope", the only man who can talk to "the Great Majority" -- the dead.

...Um... Dantes inferno was pretty friggin wild. Kinda falls off after he leaves hell though if you go into the purgatorio but thats still around 150 badly poetic chapters.

I dunno much good horror other then hp lovecraft. If I wanted to feel anxiety I'd just reread the meaning of life by viktor frankl, what happened to you by bruce perry or the chrysalids. Day of the triffids was okay. I've been meaning to read hyperion, its in my book list.

But I'm reading my anime light novels instead <3

Cliché here, but anything by King, Poe or Barker.
