do you read books that were adapted to a film you’ve seen?

I’m eager to read Lord of the Rings even though I’ve watched the movie dozens of times

Most of the time the movie pales in comparison to the book. I have always been disappointed with the movies after reading the book. There are time restrictions on a movie that makes directors cut corners on character development. Then there is a tendency of directors to warp the authors intent to conform with their point of view.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy takes almost 1200 pages to develop the characters, set the scene and tell the story. Pretty hard to put all that into a movie.
