do you read books that were adapted to a film you’ve seen?

I read LOTR as a teenager (after reading the Hobbit first on the advice of a friend) and I absolutely KNEW it would never...Could never, be made into a movie..but they did a magnificent job on it. (Of course, the less said about the Hobbit movies the better..) In contrast, one of my favourite SF stories as a teenager was Starship Troopers...And everyone involved in that, down to the caterers needs a good flogging..😷
