I read the Lord of the Rings books years before the movies were made.
After the first movie was put on DVD, I started to watch it. Right from the beginning, it struck me as having a different "feel" to it, compared to the book, and I stopped watching.
Someday, I will read those books again. But I will probably never watch the movies.
