Wuthering Heights.

I'd strongly recommend "Candide", a French satire written by Voltaire, a philosopher of the Age of Enlightenment, first published in 1759. You can get it as an ebook on Amazon for something like $0.39, and a used paper copy of the book isn't much more expensive.
Even if you don't like the book you can still use it as a paperweight, or a doorstop.

In addition to the ones I previously recommended, I am particularly enjoying a new one, authored by a former colleague at work, Ron Kemper, entitled The Coincidental Life. It is a fictionalized version of his own life experiences I suspect, growing up in Brooklyn during the late the 50's and extending into the turbulent 60's. Perhaps it is just the era that we shared, but I find the characters, the experiences, life's lessons really resonate with my own despite the fact that I grew up in rural California where the racial, ethnic, and societal divides were much different but the tensions and experiences very similar.

If you like historical fiction, have you read The Rose Code by Kate Quinn about the British women who broke the Nazi codes during WWII? Or A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles, which is going to be a TV series soon? Towles has a couple of other good ones too, one set in New York in the 20s and the other sort of on the road in the 1950s. Or any of James McBride? An interesting duo is his fictional Heaven & Earth Grocery Store set in Pottstown during the 30s and his non-fictional memoir of his mother, written with her. You can see a lot of his mother in one of the fictional characters.

Would you enjoy Gothic novels, say in the style of [i]Frankenstein[/i] and [i]Dracula[/i]? If so I can name you several good titles in that genre.

Have you read [i]The Golden Compass[/i] by Phillip Pullman?

Try [i]Old Yeller[/i]! It's a story about an American rancher family in the 1860s who meets a stray yellow dog one day, whom they named Old Yeller. The story follows the POV of the oldest son Travis as he becomes best friends with this dog and they go on many fun adventures until there's a tragedy. I found the story very wholesome and captures a lot of the lingo and settings of that time in America.

The Bear and the Nightingale. Perfect fantasy for winter reading.

I read the Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, currently reading the sequel.
It's chicklit, about a socially inadequate intelligent man and his scientific approach to finding love. It is funny and quite ok to read, but not excellent.

If you like murder mysteries and historical fiction, look for books by Paul Doherty. He has a number of series in this genre with different protagonists.

Try some Anne Rice, Galilee for example.
