Anyone use Goodreads

Anyone here use goodreads online to manage or track their reading and recommendations from others?

Too much sharing of inappropriate information among corporations, much less irrelevant information. Just my opinion on this though.

My taste in reading material should be of no concern to the corporate world, such as that site.

Would rather promote some truly non profit organization, that doesn't collect individuals private information.

There's actually plenty of them if you care to look.

I might use them as a private individual. Without actually having a account. Yet the tracking they used, goes far beyond just reading material. They actually sell that information to other corporations that have no connection to the literature world. And to the highest bidder.

It's actually how they run the site and at a profit.

I like to read series (like Reacher) so I use "Book Series in Order".

@sylvsn59 I've read them all. I don't know if I would use the word significant, but the early books were better.

There have been other series that were handed off like "Jesse Stone" and "Spencer" after Robert Parker died, and while I still enjoy them, there is a difference.

@eli1601 Very true, just wondering. Same with the Bourne series although I've only read the Ludlum books so cant comment. I find it hard getting through the Jesse Stone books, I find the language really over the top and offensive, at least to me.

@sylvsn59 Maybe I liked the Jesse Stone books because I watched the TV movies first. So I always pictured Tom Selleck when I read them.

Yeah. I haven’t updated it in awhile. I mostly used it to track down hard to find books

I use them to track series by author.

I use it lightly.

It's just advertising for best sellers. And bestsellers are about money, not life. I had enough of that when i worked in a bookstore for 12 years.
Nah... I don't read much any more...

I have never even heard of it. What does it do and how does it work?
