What is the best book you ever read and why?

For me, the defining characteristic would be either how deeply it moved me or how inspiring and mind expanding I found the content. Something that did both would nab the top spot. Hm.. maybe Another Roadside Attraction by Tom Robbins. Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami was amazing, it ached me to the depths of my soul. You can expect that from the Japanese though, I think. Amazing culture.

Probably a Teen read. The Gone series by Michael Grant. How do pre teens and young kids survive when, one day, ALL people aged 15 plus have VANISHED! And kids are trapped in their home town, no contact and no food out a barrier?

I'll highly recommend Gone series.

Less Than Zero. Mainly because I read it young and it opened up the idea that the world isn't as nice and happy as I thought at the time.

The Witch of Blackbird Pond expanded and moved my heart to realize that people are not always what they seem.
