People actually thought the author's photo on The Giving Tree was scary? 😂

While the classic children's book The Giving Tree has attracted quite a bit of criticism with some negative interpretations of the story, apparently another criticism of it is the photo of author Shel Silverstein featured on the back cover, which many said could be seen as frightening to children...

Now that's just mean, lol. I can only speak for myself, but I remember seeing that photo when I would read this book as a child and it never scared me. Sheesh! Imagine having a passion for writing stories for children only to be told you look too scary for kids. 🤣
