I hate people who say manga, graphic novels and comics aren't "real" books

Manga is considered full on literature in Japan by their people. No ifs ands or buts about it…

🤷‍♀️ People are just ignorant with their limited scope of view.

My brother loves this stuff. He can't get enough of it. He collects manga and comic books all the time. I can't stand it. In my opinion, they're not real books. I like real books. But he loves them. So he does him and I do me, and there's no call for anyone to be rude about it. But no, I don't get it, to me they are not real books. But that's just one opinion.

I think technically they are considered "graphic novels" but I get your point. I read a bunch because they're fun. Most are even easy to get into. Then again, I have a friend with a ton of novels and claims The Great Gatsby is the best book ever written.

He doesn't understand the irony that he's only read 1 of those 100 or so books...

They aren’t books. They are comics.

While I share the opinion that those forms arent "Real Books", thats a physical description of the artifact. A TV is also not a book. But that doesnt make it invalid as a means of storytelling, communication or entertainment. Try explaining a CD to Sitting Bull...😷

As long as its binded like a book and it has words that I have to read, then its a book

As a child I was a book worm. I always loved learning. To the point that recreation as a break from school work was often reading around a topic from school. When I wasn’t reading heavier stuff I was reading the beans comic :) (Dennis the menace)
