What are some interesting books you might recommend me?

Though I must stipulate no James Patterson or any generic police novel. Other than that, anything is welcome.

American Nations by Collin Woodard was an interesting read (non-fiction) and American Gods by Neil Gaiman (fiction) is still one of my favorites after many years.
