What's the best book to read about WWII?

I've been reading about WWII lately and finding it really fascinating. Any books about WWII you'd recommend as good reading? Non-fiction or fiction, just a good read is what I'm looking for.

I would find the taped interviews with World War II veterans very interesting.

@SweetMae I've listened to some of those and they're so interesting. Leaves you quite emotional at times.

@SW-User My Dad was a WWII Veteran. He was a gunner for a pilot that flew over "the hump." He did tell me that story once.

@SweetMae THE hump into China?

@SweetMae Wow that's very special. Some much sacrifice and courage. 🙏

@SweetMae No way! Did he talk about it at all? (Sits at Mae’s knee, hand under chin…)

@SW-User He served in China, Berma and India.

@SweetMae Wait, was he involved when the Japanese invaded India?
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@Human1000 He talked to other combat veterans mostly. But, my ex and both sons were combat veterans so I heard a lot of his stories. His main job was as a automotive mechanic.

@SweetMae You must be very proud!

@Human1000 Yes, he was.

Yes. Thanks for sharing that @SweetMae. It's always very humbling to hear these things. 🙏

@SW-User Yes! It is. 🙏

@SweetMae I so appreciate the sacrifices of military families. I had friends with dads in the military who had to move away. They had this closeness I admired,though.

@SweetMae My dad was a WWII veteran, and he also served in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theater, in the 10th Air Force. For the last year of the war, he was a ground crew chief in charge of maintaining 12 B-24J heavy bombers at an air strip in India. My dad had many stories about his experiences.
