A Poem About A Breakup

Sketches of Summer

Beware the mouse of August
and her graphite on the page.
Arranged in such a way
it turns these monsters in to saints.
Shades of grey once spoken
used in surplus to proclaim,
a true intent meant to be buried
beside the demons she betrays.

Lies so white like virgin snow,
said to chill fears of disbelief.
Cause ink to flow thick like blood
down a canvas incomplete.
Where a storm was quick to calm,
whipped up now in such a frenzy.
Between the hatching of her lines
of the depression she's cultivating.

Mouse of skulls and bones
sat so mighty in your throne.
Recanting tomes of words spoken
best left to fill the hollow of that home.
Another piece of work completed
here in your book of past endeavors.
Suffocating underneath the weight
of the nights you won't remember.
